About the Role

We are looking for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our team to work on some of the UK and Ireland’s most exciting building projects across a range of sectors. As an esc Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will be working with and learning from our Chartered (RICS) Quantity Surveyors. We’re looking for graduates who are ambitious, innovative and want to learn; People who bring their energy, enthusiasm and can-do attitude to our down to earth, dynamic team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Chartered Quantity Surveyors in the delivery of cost consultancy services across a range of construction projects
  • Support the preparation of cost estimates, cost plans, tender documentation and contract documents
  • Assist with procurement activities, tender evaluations and post-tender reporting.
  • Support the administration of construction contracts, including NEC contracts, under the guidance of senior team members
  • Assist in the preparation of valuations, cost reports, variation assessments and final accounts
  • Attend project meetings and collaborate with clients, consultants and contractors to gain an understanding of project requirements and risks
  • Contribute to project planning and cost management activities from feasibility through to construction and project completion
  • Assist with site visits, progress monitoring and the collection of project information.
  • Maintain accurate project records and support the preparation of reports and presentations
  • Participate in continuous professional development and work towards achieving Chartered (RICS) status.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in Quantity Surveying and working towards professional chartership (RICS)
  • Knowledge of construction contracts and procurement methods, with an awareness of NEC contracts being advantageous
  • Demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team through academic, placement, work or extracurricular experience

Key Skills

  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Confident presentation and listening skills, with a willingness to learn and develop client-facing experience
  • Ability to think critically and apply a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Organised and capable of managing workload effectively to meet project deadlines
  • Demonstrates initiative, enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards learning and professional development
  • Resilient, adaptable and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong team-working skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and project stakeholders
  • Understanding of construction methods, building technology and the wider construction industry
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in the financial management of construction projects
  • Full driving licence would be beneficial
