Graduate Quantity Surveyor

Location: East of England

Business: Binnies, part of the RSK Group

Alliance: @one Alliance

Reporting to: Project Commercial Manager

About The Role

Are you a recent graduate looking to build a career in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management?

We’re looking for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Binnies, working as part of the @one Alliance.

Reporting to the Project Commercial Manager, this role will give you the opportunity to learn and develop across all aspects of commercial management within a live project environment.

You’ll work closely with our delivery and construction teams, gaining valuable practical experience and developing the skills needed to provide effective commercial support to project delivery teams.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you’ll gain experience across a wide range of commercial activities, including:

  • Working collaboratively with delivery teams to identify, implement and monitor efficiencies.
  • Working closely with construction teams and regularly attending site.
  • Supporting the application of commercial procedures and procurement strategies.
  • Assisting with the preparation and management of subcontracts, ensuring they reflect agreed scopes and contractual requirements.
  • Supporting the management of contractual processes, including communications, payments, early warnings, compensation events, and programme submissions.
  • Developing your understanding of commercial and cost management across projects and programmes.
  • Supporting effective cost control, maximising value, and minimising future liabilities.
  • Developing your commercial awareness and understanding of contractual arrangements.
  • Ensuring commercial records are maintained and readily available for cost assurance and audits.
  • Supporting Quantity Surveyors with Final Accounts.
  • Working to achieve efficiencies while maintaining compliance with Alliance and Anglian Water governance procedures.

Working With Others

You’ll work as part of a collaborative commercial and project delivery environment, building relationships with colleagues and external partners.

This will include working with:

  • Alliance Project Delivery Teams
  • Commercial, Finance, Estimating, and Procurement teams
  • Alliance Construction Teams
  • Supply chain partners
  • Partner Commercial teams

Building strong relationships with both the project delivery team and supply chain will be an important part of your role.

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised, and keen to develop a career in Quantity Surveying and commercial management.

Essential

  • A degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering, management, or cost-related discipline.
  • A CSCS card.
  • Extensive IT knowledge, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A strong team player who enjoys working collaboratively.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to integrate quickly into project teams.
