Our harbourside boutique hotels in the charming fishing village of St Mawes are looking for a Graduate Sales & Business Development Executive with energy, ambition and a natural instinct for finding opportunities.

This is an exciting role for someone at the beginning of their career who is hungry to learn, confident talking to people and excited by the idea of building a business rather than simply managing one.

You'll work closely with the General Manager and wider team to help us win new customers, develop new partnerships, generate demand and grow revenue across our hotels, restaurants, spa and experiences.

We're not looking for a traditional hotel revenue manager. We're looking for someone with commercial curiosity, a sales mindset and plenty of personality - someone who sees an opportunity and thinks, "Why not?"

Key Responsibilities

Outbound Business Development

  • Identify and approach new businesses, organisations, groups and individuals who could become valuable customers.
  • Research potential markets and create targeted outreach campaigns.
  • Develop new corporate, leisure, group and partnership opportunities.
  • Follow up leads proactively and turn conversations into bookings and business.
  • Build a strong network of contacts across Cornwall, the South West and relevant UK markets.

Network & Partnership Building

  • Find businesses, brands, creators and organisations that could help us reach new audiences.
  • Develop creative partnerships that benefit both sides.
  • Build relationships with local businesses, tourism partners, event organisers, travel companies and other relevant contacts.
  • Look for opportunities to collaborate, cross-promote and create new reasons for people to visit St Mawes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your background matters less to us than your attitude and potential.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Hungry - you want to win business and you enjoy seeing results.
  • Energetic - you naturally create momentum and don't need to be pushed.
  • Confident - you're comfortable picking up the phone, meeting new people and starting conversations.
  • Creative - you have ideas and aren't afraid to try something different.
  • Commercial - you understand that great ideas ultimately need to create value.
  • Curious - you want to understand customers, markets and what makes people buy.
  • Self-motivated - you can take an objective and work out how to make it happen.
  • Personable - you have warmth, confidence and a natural ability to build relationships.
  • Ambitious - you want to develop quickly and take on more responsibility.

You don't need to have a long track record in hospitality or revenue management. In fact, we'd rather meet someone with drive, ideas and a natural flair for sales than someone with years of experience but little appetite to create something new.

Why this role?

You'll have the opportunity to make a visible impact on two independent boutique hotels and work across almost every aspect of their commercial proposition.

You won't be sitting behind a desk simply managing existing business. You'll be out there finding new customers, creating partnerships, developing ideas and making things happen.

If you're commercially hungry, naturally curious, creative and full of energy - and you want a role where your initiative is noticed and rewarded - we'd love to hear from you.

Local accommodation can be provided at competitive rates.
