Graduate Sales & Marketing Trainee

Who we are

Volta Ventures is a sales and marketing company working in the telecoms sector. We run face-to-face sales campaigns for major telecoms brands — live events and in-store activations — real conversations with real customers, not a desk-bound marketing role.

We're based in Birmingham city centre — a short walk from New Street, Moor Street and Snow Hill, and an easy commute from right across the West Midlands.

The Role

This is a graduate-calibre trainee role with a sales-first start and real marketing exposure built in.

You'll begin by driving face-to-face customer acquisition for major telecoms brands — this is direct sales, done properly, and it's the fastest way to actually understand a brand's market rather than reading about it. Alongside that, you'll get hands-on exposure to how a campaign is planned and positioned: what makes an offer land, how a brand presents itself at point of contact, and how performance is read and adjusted. It's how every manager here started, including the people running our biggest campaigns today.

As you progress, you'll move into running campaigns yourself: hiring and training staff, owning targets, and eventually leading a team across multiple sites.

What You'll Be Doing

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

  • Driving face-to-face sales and customer acquisition for major telecoms brands — this is the core of the role, not an occasional task
  • Learning and applying core sales technique — objection handling, negotiation, closing
  • Getting exposure to campaign planning and brand positioning alongside the sales work
  • Recruiting, onboarding and training new sales staff as you progress
  • Owning sales targets and reporting on campaign performance
  • Coaching and developing team members on site

What We're Looking For

We care far more about attitude than your degree subject. You'll do well here if you're:

  • Competitive — you want a target and you want to beat it
  • A natural communicator — comfortable opening a conversation with someone you've never met, in person
  • Commercially curious — you want to understand why a sale works, not just make it
  • Organised — you can run several things at once without dropping any of them
  • Ambitious — you want a path toward leading a team, not just doing a job

Any degree background welcome. No previous work experience needed — full training provided in both sales technique and campaign fundamentals.

What You Get

  • Structured sales and management development programme, with a clear route from graduate trainee to leading campaigns and teams
  • Base salary plus uncapped commission — a guaranteed foundation, with earnings rising in line with what you deliver
  • Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm, with extra hours available if you want to earn more
  • International and domestic travel opportunities
  • Networking events, team socials and Rising Stars recognition for top performers
