Graduate Data Analyst / Scientific Analyst (Physics) – Entry-Level | No Experience Required

About the Role

Are you a recent Physics graduate looking to transition your strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills into a professional career?

We are seeking a highly analytical and motivated Graduate Data Analyst / Scientific Analyst to join our growing team. This entry-level role is well suited to Physics graduates who enjoy working with data, mathematical models, quantitative analysis, research, and technology.

No prior professional experience is required. Training and mentorship will be provided to help you develop practical skills in data analytics, statistical analysis, scientific computing, modelling, and business intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, analyse, and interpret quantitative datasets.
  • Apply mathematical and statistical techniques to solve analytical problems.
  • Identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and relationships within datasets.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and data visualisations.
  • Assist with statistical modelling, forecasting, and predictive analysis.
  • Build and maintain analytical models under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Conduct quantitative research and investigate complex problems.
  • Support data validation and quality assurance activities.
  • Use analytical findings to support business and operational decision-making.
  • Document analytical methods, assumptions, results, and conclusions.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Stay updated with emerging data, technology, and analytical methodologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, or another related quantitative discipline.
  • Recent graduate or up to 1 year of experience.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
  • Good understanding of statistics and quantitative methods.
  • Strong logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and analytical tools quickly.

Preferred Skills

  • Basic knowledge of Python, R, or SQL.
  • Familiarity with NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, or similar analytical libraries.
  • Basic understanding of data visualisation and statistical modelling.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB, Mathematica, or scientific computing tools is beneficial.
  • Basic understanding of machine learning concepts is advantageous.
  • Academic research, laboratory projects, dissertations, internships, or computational projects are beneficial but not required.
