Job title: Graduate Security Consultant

Location: Leeds or London

Start Date: September 2027

Purpose & Scope of the Role

Tetra Tech is an award-winning global consulting and engineering business delivering innovative solutions for buildings, cities and infrastructure. Our security team includes professionally registered specialists working across the UK on high-profile projects, developing security strategies and technical designs that support client ambitions. This graduate role is broad and developmental, covering the design, development, implementation, review and analysis of physical, technical, personnel and personal security, including where these overlap with cyber security.

Your Impact in this position

You’ll support the development of threat, vulnerability and risk assessment methods, contribute to security guidance within projects, and help identify innovative, proportionate solutions to complex design and engineering challenges. Working closely with security professionals and project teams, you’ll help embed practical security measures and improve processes, tools and approaches.

5 Core Capabilities

  • Threat & Risk Assessment – Support the development and delivery of threat, vulnerability and risk assessment methodologies, and undertake assessments using data, analytical techniques and computer modelling software.
  • Security Design Support – Contribute to the review and analysis of security risks, controls and design solutions, and help implement security guidance within projects.
  • Process & SOP Management – Administer and maintain security standard operating procedures, while supporting the development of new methods, processes and templates.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement – Work closely with project teams, security professionals and wider stakeholders to embed practical security measures across physical, technical, personnel and personal security.
  • Continuous Improvement – Help identify innovative, proportionate and effective security solutions to complex design and engineering challenges, while contributing to improved tools, approaches and ways of working.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

You’ll need an appropriate degree (2:1 BSc in Cyber Security, Security, Project Management) or technical qualification in security or a built environment discipline, strong written and spoken English, MS Office skills, good attention to detail, and the ability to manage workloads in a fast-paced environment. A drive to achieve membership of RSES or the Register of Chartered Security Professionals is important. Desirable experience includes interest in physical, technical, personnel or personal security, infrastructure design, project management, the RIBA project cycle, and data science approaches to security risk management.

Security Requirements

This role requires UK Government security clearance. To be considered, you must be able to obtain UK Developed Vetting, be a sole UK national (no dual nationality), and have been a UK resident for at least the last 10 years.

Working Environment

Based in London or Leeds, with hybrid working supported in line with team and project needs. As a graduate role, you’ll be expected to spend more time in the office initially to support learning and development. Regular travel to client, supplier and other UK offices will be required, and a full UK driving licence is essential.
