About the Opportunity
An established technology business is looking for a Software Engineer to join its growing development team. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or junior developer to work across the full software development lifecycle, building and enhancing modern web-based applications while learning from experienced engineers.
You'll gain hands-on experience with modern development tools, cloud technologies, AI-assisted software development, and agile delivery practices in a collaborative and supportive environment.
The Role
As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of business-critical software applications. Working alongside experienced developers, QA engineers, and product stakeholders, you'll help deliver new features, resolve technical issues, and continuously improve product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software applications using modern technologies including C#,.NET, React, TypeScript, and SQL.
- Build features across both front-end and back-end systems.
- Utilise AI-powered development tools and coding assistants while validating and testing generated code before release.
- Create and maintain automated tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve defects across development and production environments.
- Collaborate with Product Owners to understand requirements and estimate development effort.
- Work closely with QA teams to support testing and release activities.
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
- Contribute ideas on technical solutions, development standards, and best practices.
- Communicate progress effectively and proactively raise blockers when support is required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
