Standard Job Description
Selected employees to perform tasks and assignments over a 2 year programme to emphasise development of technical, professional and interpersonal skills in a structured framework within the engineering disciplines, such as software, mechanical, electrical, and systems. Participates in specific training opportunities under the graduate programme involving IET/LM Manual for professional development, mentoring, role experience and graduate projects. Candidates for this position are selected following completion of a bachelors degree and assessed by the graduate board and BU Leadership team as possessing requisite skills and abilities for future career development.
About The Role
Lockheed Martin UK are hiring Software Engineering Graduates to join teams in our Gloucester office. You will be trained to build critical solutions in cutting-edge technologies, working under general direction and support from your Software Engineering Lead.
We want to hear from you if you thrive on solving complex problems, want to learn and apply new technical skills, are curious about how AI can augment modern software engineering, and enjoy collaborating with colleagues in office-based Agile teams.

Duties Include
- Working alongside senior engineers in discussions with customers to elicit requirements, converting operational needs into technical specifications.
- Designing and implementing software solutions based on requirements to meet defined Acceptance Criteria.
- Writing clean, maintainable code, applying best practice, and reviewing others’ code.
- Championing automation in the form of IaC, CI/CD and test automation.
- Supporting Integration & Test teams during formal test phases.
- Performing technical investigations of problems raised against operational systems.

Required Skills, Qualifications And Experience
- Degree in a STEM subject, preferably Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- A good understanding of OOP and experience with one or more of the following: Java, Python, C++, JavaScript, TypeScript, React.
- Knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
- An awareness of Agile, Cloud, DevSecOps or GitLab is a plus.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage own time to meet project needs.
