Graduate Software Engineer
At-a-Glance
Belfast, hybrid... you'll need to be in the office regularly, so this one is for people based in or around Belfast
Graduate level, ideal for someone who has already built and shipped things on their own
JavaScript, TypeScript, React and Node
Salary up to £32,000
Join a small start-up where your code goes straight to real users
About the Company
My client is a small, product-led tech start-up based in Belfast. The team is lean, moves quickly and ships often, so everyone has a direct hand in what gets built. It's the kind of place where good ideas get tried rather than talked about in meetings.
The Role
If you've spent evenings and weekends building your own apps, tools or side projects simply because you wanted to, this is worth a read. You'll join a small engineering team working across the full stack, picking up real features from day one rather than sitting through a long graduate scheme. You'll work closely with the founders and senior engineers, so you'll see how product decisions get made and have a say in them. People who thrive here are curious, self-starting and happy to own a problem from idea through to release.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
