Graduate / Assistant Surveyor – Lease Advisory

Birmingham | £35,000 | Commercial Property Consultancy

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Graduate or Assistant Surveyor to join a well-established and highly regarded commercial property consultancy in Birmingham, specialising in landlord and tenant advice across the Midlands and beyond.

This role is open to a broad range of backgrounds. You might already be working in lease advisory and looking for a genuinely high-growth, high-performance environment where you can accelerate your development. Or you might be in a different area of surveying — property management, agency, valuation, or a general practice graduate role — and looking for a clear route into lease consultancy. Either way, if you have some exposure to lease advisory work and want to build a specialist career in it, this is worth a conversation.

The Role

You will support and increasingly take ownership of a range of lease advisory instructions, gaining exposure to the full breadth of landlord and tenant work. Key responsibilities will include:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
