Graduate Teaching Assistant KS1 Elephant and Castle

Graduate Teaching Assistant Full-Time September 2026 - July 2027
Location: Elephant and Castle, South London
Pay: GBP90-GBP115 per day
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm
Are you a recent graduate looking to gain invaluable classroom experience before training to become a teacher? A welcoming and supportive mainstream primary school in Elephant and Castle is looking to appoint a motivated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their KS1 team for the full academic year.
This Graduate Teaching Assistant role is ideal for aspiring teachers who want to develop their classroom skills, learn from experienced educators and make a real impact on children's learning before beginning teacher training.
The Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, You Will
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging KS1 lessons
- Work with pupils individually, in small groups and as part of the whole class
- Help children develop confidence in literacy, numeracy and communication
- Prepare classroom resources and support with daily classroom routines
- Encourage positive behaviour and create an inclusive learning environment
- Gain hands-on experience across all aspects of primary education

What We're Looking For
We're Looking For a Graduate Teaching Assistant Who Has
- A UK-recognised degree (essential)
- Previous experience working with children in a school, tutoring, childcare, coaching, mentoring or similar setting
- A genuine ambition to pursue a career in teaching or education
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive, enthusiastic and proactive approach to supporting young learners
