Graduate Teaching Assistant KS1 Elephant and Castle September 2026

Graduate Teaching Assistant Full-Time Academic Year September 2026 - July 2027

Location: Elephant and Castle, South London

Pay: GBP90-GBP115 per day

Working Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm

A friendly and supportive primary school in Elephant and Castle is seeking a committed Graduate Teaching Assistant to become part of their KS1 team for the 2026/27 academic year.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate who wants to experience life in a primary school, work alongside experienced teachers and develop the practical skills needed for a successful career in education.

About The Position

Working alongside the class teacher, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support during KS1 lessons and classroom activities
  • Working with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning
  • Helping children build their confidence across literacy, numeracy and communication
  • Assisting with lesson preparation, classroom resources and everyday routines
  • Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupils to engage with their learning
  • Supporting the wider classroom environment and contributing to pupils' progress

The Ideal Candidate

The School Is Looking For Someone Who Can Demonstrate

  • A UK-recognised degree - essential
  • Previous experience working with children, whether through schools, tutoring, childcare, coaching, mentoring or a similar setting
  • A clear interest in pursuing a career within teaching or education
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Enthusiasm, initiative and a positive attitude
  • A genuine interest in helping children learn, develop and succeed
