Production Technician Intern
My client is an innovative diagnostics company developing affordable, user-friendly testing platforms designed for community and home use. Their products are focused on delivering rapid, accurate and actionable diagnostic results that improve healthcare outcomes.
My client operates within a regulated GMP manufacturing environment and is continuing to build its production capability as its technology progresses toward commercialisation.
Role Overview
We are looking to appoint a Production Intern on an initial 4-month contract to support manufacturing activities during the holiday period.
This opportunity is ideally suited to a recent graduate in a scientific or engineering discipline who is looking to gain valuable hands-on industry experience within the medical device and diagnostics sector.
Working alongside the production and engineering teams, interns will support day-to-day manufacturing activities and be trained on a range of routine production processes within a GMP-regulated environment. This role will provide practical exposure to diagnostic manufacturing, quality systems and regulated production processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the manufacture of diagnostic test strips and related products
- Assist with routine assembly and production activities
- Operate production equipment following training and work instructions
- Complete basic in-process quality checks and record data accurately
- Follow GMP procedures, SOPs and clean room protocols
- Assist with equipment cleaning and maintenance activities
- Handle raw materials and finished products safely and correctly
- Maintain accurate production documentation and batch records
- Support the wider production team with day-to-day operational activities

Candidate Profile
Essential
- Degree (or currently completing) in Engineering, Biomedical Science, Chemistry, Biology or similar scientific discipline
- Or a background in Production Operations
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Practical, hands-on approach
- Ability to follow structured processes and procedures accurately
- Positive attitude and willingness to contribute within a small team environment
Desirable
- Previous laboratory, manufacturing or technical experience
- Exposure to regulated environments such as medical devices, diagnostics or pharmaceuticals
- Interest in diagnostics, biotechnology or medical technology
Contract Details
- 4-month fixed-term contract
- 37.5 hours per week
- £12.71 per hour
