Graduate Technical Sales Support Engineer

A great opportunity for a recent engineering graduate or technically minded candidate with an HND, HNC or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline to start a career in technical sales support, customer service and product selection within the water and pump industry. The role offers structured training, exposure to real-world engineering applications and the chance to develop both technical and commercial skills in a supportive, customer-focused environment.

£26,500 to £30,000 per annum (Depending on Experience) + Benefits

Job Overview

The organisation has an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Technical Sales Support Engineer to support customers and the internal sales team with technical enquiries, product selection, quotations and sales administration.

Working across a broad product portfolio, as the Graduate Technical Sales Support Engineer you will gain knowledge of water pumps, control panels, variable speed drives, plastic fittings and associated accessories. Full product and application training will be provided, making this a strong entry point for someone motivated to build a long-term career in a technical sales environment.

This role would suit someone with a mechanical, electrical or related technical qualification who enjoys solving problems, communicating with customers and turning technical information into practical solutions.

Duties

Your duties as the Graduate Technical Sales Support Engineer include:

  • Customer Enquiries: Respond to customer enquiries by phone and email, providing prompt, clear and professional support
  • Product Selection: Interpret technical requirements and assist with selecting appropriate pump systems and associated equipment
  • Quotations: Prepare and issue accurate, competitive quotations based on customer specifications
  • Sales Team Support: Provide technical and commercial insight to support the sales team with product applications
  • Product Knowledge: Build and maintain knowledge across pumps, controls, drives and accessories
  • Customer Communication: Answer incoming telephone calls and direct or resolve queries effectively
  • Relationship Building: Develop strong customer relationships by delivering high-quality service
  • Troubleshooting Support: Provide guidance and basic troubleshooting support where required
  • Sales Administration: Assist with order processing, enquiry tracking and general sales administration (estimated 20% of your time)
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of enquiries, quotations and customer communications
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across sales, operations and technical teams to support smooth day-to-day operations

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • HND, HNC or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Strong interest in technical sales and customer-facing work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple enquiries and prioritise workload effectively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Customer-focused mindset and willingness to help
  • Ability to interpret technical information and translate it into practical solutions
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Flexible, proactive team player
  • Motivation to learn and grow within a technical sales environment

  • Knowledge or interest in pumps, motors, fluid handling or water systems
