The Health Insurance Group is offering an exciting opportunity to join our Graduate & Trainee Employee Benefits Consultant Programme, designed to develop the next generation of employee benefits professionals.

Whether you're a recent graduate or someone looking to begin a rewarding career in financial services, insurance or consultancy, this programme will provide the knowledge, support and experience needed to become a trusted Employee Benefits Consultant.

You'll receive structured training from experienced consultants, gain hands-on experience working with UK businesses and study towards industry-recognised professional qualifications, all funded by The Health Insurance Group.

No previous employee benefits experience is required – we're looking for people with the right attitude, ambition and willingness to learn.

About the Graduate Programme

This is a structured development programme that combines practical experience with professional training.

During your first few months, you'll receive comprehensive coaching on:

  • The employee benefits market.
  • Healthcare and wellbeing insurance products.
  • How insurance providers operate.
  • FCA regulation and compliance.
  • Client relationship management.
  • Quotation and renewal processes.
  • Delivering professional advice and outstanding customer service.

Initially, you'll focus on healthcare products such as Private Medical Insurance, Health Cash Plans and Dental Insurance.

As your knowledge develops, you'll progress into advising on Group Risk products including Group Life, Group Income Protection and Group Critical Illness, enabling you to become a well-rounded Employee Benefits Consultant.

You'll work alongside experienced consultants before gradually taking ownership of your own portfolio of micro and SME clients.

What You'll Be Doing

Throughout the programme you will:

  • Learn how to manage and develop a portfolio of SME clients.
  • Build lasting relationships with clients through telephone, email and virtual meetings.
  • Support consultants with policy renewals and client reviews.
  • Obtain quotations from insurers and compare market options.
  • Prepare client recommendations and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with policy administration and membership changes.
  • Liaise with insurers to negotiate terms and resolve client queries.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce additional employee benefit solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with FCA requirements.
  • Deliver an exceptional level of customer service throughout the client journey.

As your experience grows, you'll progress towards independently managing your own portfolio of clients and conducting renewal and review meetings.

  • Clear progression into an Employee Benefits Consultant role managing your own client portfolio.

Working Arrangement

To ensure you receive the best possible training, this role will be office-based at our Sutton Coldfield office for the first three months.

Following successful completion of your training and probation, you'll have the opportunity to work flexibly through a hybrid working arrangement.
