Are you looking to begin a rewarding career in social work?

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated graduate to undertake a Master's Degree in Social Work at Bangor University, while gaining valuable practical experience within Conwy's Safeguarding and Legal Team (SALT).

About the Role

SALT works closely with children, families, solicitors, CAFCASS officers, and the Courts, supporting families through Care Proceedings where there are significant safeguarding concerns. As a Graduate Social Work Trainee, you will develop your knowledge and skills through a combination of academic study and hands-on experience, supported by experienced practitioners and managers throughout your journey.

This is a unique opportunity to learn within a specialist safeguarding service, gaining insight into statutory social work practice while working alongside highly skilled professionals committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and families.

Upon successful completion of the qualification and registration with Social Care Wales, you will be appointed to a Social Worker post within SALT, enabling you to continue your professional career within Conwy's Children's Services.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
