Purpose & Scope of the Role

Tetra Tech is a leading technical, engineering and environmental consultancy delivering data-driven solutions across water, environment, infrastructure, energy and international development. In this graduate role, you will join our transport planning team and contribute to a wide range of traffic and transportation planning work, including transport assessments for new developments, urban regeneration, active travel, inclusive mobility, public transport and sustainable transport feasibility schemes.

Your Impact in this position

You will support the preparation of Transport Assessments and Travel Plans, develop active travel, inclusive mobility and sustainable transport solutions, analyse data and help shape transport-related solutions including junction designs. You will also commission traffic, pedestrian and cyclist surveys, carry out site and access appraisals, and liaise with clients, architects, planners and Highway Authorities.

  • Transport Assessments & Travel Plans – Build the evidence base for development proposals and planning submissions.
  • Active Travel & Inclusive Mobility – Help design transport solutions that are accessible, practical and future-focused.
  • Data Analysis & Design Support – Analyse transport data and contribute to junction design and wider transport recommendations.
  • Survey & Site Work – Commission and support traffic, pedestrian and cyclist surveys, plus site and access appraisals.
  • Stakeholder Liaison – Work confidently with clients, design teams, planners and Highway Authorities.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

We’re looking for a MEng Civil engineering degree, ideally with a minimum 2:1 or equivalent, or a closely related technical discipline such as Transport Planning, Highway Engineering, Town Planning or Geography. Strong MS Office, numeracy, analytical and report-writing skills are essential, alongside excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail. Previous placement or internship experience would be beneficial.

Working Environment

Based in London or Stevenage, with a hybrid working approach and expected office presence agreed as part of the role. You’ll work flexibly between office, site and remote locations as needed, with opportunities to develop within a collaborative consultancy environment.
