About the Team
Amey’s rapidly expanding Transport Planning team is based across Great Britain and Ireland with a diverse range of projects delivered by staff with a diverse range of Transport Planning skills. Our transport planners are at the forefront of navigating complex transport issues for our clients in both the UK and overseas. We develop innovative, cutting edge, and evidence-based solutions that help clients understand the full costs and benefits, unlock investment opportunities, and drive meaningful change across their communities.
What you’ll be doing
As a Graduate Transport Planner, you will be supporting the team to effectively deliver our projects to our clients whilst growing our workload and team.
You will work alongside the team in the following areas:
- Development Planning
- Supporting planning applications and infrastructure delivery by securing development consent and discharging planning conditions.
- Business Cases and Economic Appraisal
- Building robust business cases and conducting economic analysis to guide and justify transport investment decisions.
- People Movement & Accessibility
- Enhancing how people navigate and experience spaces, ensuring transport systems are inclusive, efficient, and accessible to all.
- Strategic Advice
- Working with clients to shape and define objectives, solve complex challenges, and identify the most effective policy, service, and infrastructure interventions.
- Transport Masterplanning
- Helping our clients plan new spaces and re-work existing ones to drive economic growth in a sustainable way.
- Behaviour Change & Research
- Designing transport solutions that are people-focused and which positively influence travel behaviour to support more sustainable and inclusive mobility.
- Public Transport and Active Modes
- Working across both policy and scheme development to get more people using more sustainable forms of transport.
- Transport Modelling & Data Analytics
- Using data-driven insights and modelling tools to assess current and future transport scenarios, helping our clients to understand the impact of their decisions.

What we’re looking for
We're looking for enthusiastic individuals with a willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and a genuine interest in building a career in transport. You'll enjoy working with others, communicating your ideas and taking on new challenges while learning from experienced professionals.
You don't need years of experience to join us – we're looking for people with potential. If you're curious, motivated and keen to learn, we'd love to hear from you.
To be considered for the pathway, you'll need to meet the following requirements:
- A minimum 2:1 degree in a Transportation or related subject such as Engineering, Town Planning, Mathematics, Physics, Transport Economics.
- Commitment to spend a minimum of three days a week in the office or on client site (project dependent)
