Job title: Graduate Water Engineer

Location: Belfast

Start Date: September 2027

Purpose & Scope of the Role

Tetra Tech is a leading technical, engineering and environmental consultancy delivering data-driven solutions across water, environment, infrastructure, energy and international development. With over 6,000 people and 50+ offices across the UK and Europe, we combine local delivery with global capability. This Graduate Water Engineer role sits within an established Water Engineering Team, supporting the design and delivery of projects across a range of sectors, with access to early careers support, mentoring and Chartership support.

Your Impact in this position

You’ll support the delivery of projects on time and to budget, working under the supervision of Project Engineers and the Design Team Leader. Through design, verification, site work and stakeholder engagement, you’ll help deliver compliant, practical engineering solutions.

5 Core Capabilities

  • Engineering Design – Undertake engineering design in line with EuroCode and BS standards.
  • Technical Team Support – Provide technical assistance to the Water Engineering Team across live projects.
  • Project Delivery Support – Help deliver projects efficiently, within agreed time and budget.
  • Design Review & Verification – Assist with design reviews and verification checks to maintain quality.
  • Site & Stakeholder Coordination – Carry out site visits and surveys and liaise with clients, contractors, statutory bodies and other stakeholders.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

You’ll need a minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant subject. Desirable experience includes MS Office/MS Teams, previous industry work experience, AutoCAD/Revit, engineering design software, strong communication skills, self-motivation and a commitment to professional/Chartered status.

Working Environment

Based in Belfast, with hybrid working supported in line with team and project needs. As a graduate role, there will be an expectation to spend more time in the office initially to support learning, collaboration and development, with site visits and travel as required.
