Education Consultancy Services Ltd (ECS) is a growing, independent building consultancy supporting schools, academy trusts and commercial clients across England. We specialise in helping our clients secure capital funding, manage construction projects and improve their estates through practical, professional consultancy services.
As our business continues to grow, we're looking for a Graduate/ Trainee Funding & Bid Writer to join our friendly and supportive team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with excellent written communication skills who is looking to develop a career in bid writing.
The Role
Working closely with our Directors, Building Surveyors and Project Managers, you'll help prepare funding applications that support schools in securing investment for building improvement projects.
You'll receive mentoring and on-the-job training while developing an understanding of education funding, construction projects and technical report writing.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with researching and preparing funding applications for schools and academy trusts.
- Work with colleagues to gather technical and project information.
- Help transform technical reports into clear, concise and persuasive written submissions.
- Support the preparation and quality checking of funding applications before submission.
- Assist with managing bid deadlines and submission programmes.
- Carry out research into funding guidance and eligibility criteria.
- Support the continual improvement of bid templates, processes and internal documentation.
- Assist with post-submission queries and appeals where required.

About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys writing, has excellent attention to detail and is eager to learn.
You'll ideally have:
- Excellent written English and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and proofreading ability.
- The ability to analyse information and present it clearly.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Excel.
Desirable
- A degree or qualification in English, Business, Marketing, Construction, Property or a related subject.
- Experience writing reports, proposals or professional documents.
- Knowledge of the education or construction sectors.
- Experience working within an office or consultancy environment.
