Position Overview

Think Hire is a leading provider of specialist Solar-Hybrid and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), supported by a market-leading asset management software solution. We design, manufacture, and configure innovative renewable power solutions that help customers reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency, and deliver cleaner temporary power across the construction, infrastructure, and industrial sectors.

As a Graduate/Trainee Technical Engineer, your purpose is to support the Technical Team in delivering expert engineering support across our nationwide operations while developing the knowledge and skills needed for a successful engineering career. Through structured training and hands-on experience, you'll assist with technical fault diagnosis, product configuration, product development, and the delivery of innovative renewable power solutions.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll play an important role in solving technical challenges, supporting our depot network and customers, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our products and engineered systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing first-line technical support to our depots and field teams.
  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults remotely via telephone and digital diagnostics.
  • Investigating equipment returned to our Head Office to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Assisting with the design, configuration, and testing of our in-house renewable power and software solutions.
  • Supporting product development and continuous improvement projects.
  • Assisting with commissioning, testing, and validation of new products and systems.
  • Producing and maintaining technical documentation, reports, and service information.
  • Working closely with engineering, operations, and suppliers to resolve technical challenges.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in accordance with relevant standards.

Key Skills & Experience

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, is eager to learn, and wants to develop a career in engineering within the renewable energy sector.

To Be Successful In This Role, You'll Ideally Have

  • An HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.

You'll Also Demonstrate

  • A genuine interest in renewable energy, power systems, and engineering technology.
  • Strong analytical and fault-finding skills.
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics, or a willingness to develop these skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with confidence supporting colleagues and customers.
  • A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to produce clear technical documentation.
  • A proactive attitude, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a technical team.
