Graham Eyes Butchers - Area Butcher Manager

Contract Type: Permanent - Full Time

Hours of work: 39 hours per week

About the Role

Our Graham Eyes Area Butcher Managers play a key role in ensuring our butchery departments deliver exceptional quality, strong commercial performance, and great customer service.

Working across a number of SPAR stores, you will provide leadership, support, and direction to our Butcher Managers and their teams, ensuring consistently high standards across all locations.

Here’s What You Can Expect to be Doing

As Area Butcher Manager, you will take responsibility for the performance and standards of butchery departments across your area. You will work closely with Butcher Managers to develop their teams, maximise sales and profitability, and ensure our customers receive the quality and service they expect from Graham Eyes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, supporting, and developing Butcher Managers across multiple locations
  • Driving sales, profitability, and overall commercial performance across your area
  • Monitoring key performance indicators and taking action to improve results
  • Ensuring consistently high standards of product quality, availability, presentation, and customer service
  • Supporting stores with effective stock management, ordering, stocktaking, and availability
  • Monitoring and controlling waste and identifying opportunities to improve margins
  • Ensuring food safety procedures, HACCP requirements, and company policies are consistently followed
  • Maintaining company standards across window displays, upright counters, and all butchery departments
  • Supporting Butcher Managers with colleague performance, rotas, and resource planning
  • Coaching and developing colleagues to build strong, capable, and motivated butchery teams
  • Identifying opportunities to grow sales and improve the customer offer within individual locations
  • Regularly visiting stores across your area, providing hands-on support and ensuring agreed actions are delivered
  • Working closely with Store Managers and the wider business to deliver company objectives and maintain high operational standards

A Few Things About You

  • Proven management experience within a butchery or fresh food environment is essential
  • Experience of managing, supporting, or influencing teams across multiple locations would be advantageous
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to drive sales, control costs, and improve profitability
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • A thorough knowledge of HACCP and food safety requirements
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of butchery
  • Confident in coaching, developing, and motivating managers and their teams
  • Able to identify opportunities and take ownership of improving performance
  • Enthusiastic, committed, and self-motivated
  • Adopts a ‘can do’ attitude to challenging situations
  • Organised and able to prioritise effectively across multiple locations
  • A flexible approach to working hours and travel between stores
  • A full UK driving licence is essential
