About Wembley Stadium Foundation
Wembley Stadium Foundation is a grant-making charity using the power of Wembley Stadium to inspire, transform and connect communities through sport, movement and the performing arts.
Funded through income generated by events at Wembley Stadium, we invest in charities and community organisations to help remove barriers to participation and create opportunities for people and communities to thrive.
Our current strategy, Anyone Can 2025 to 2028, places Brent at the heart of our work while extending our reach across England. Our grant-making consists of community grant programmes and strategic multi-year partnerships, and we are proud to support our dedicated partners through a relational, trust-based approach.
We are a small and ambitious team based at Wembley Stadium. The Grants Manager will be one of two management roles reporting directly to the Chief Executive, working alongside the Business Operations Manager and line managing the Partnerships Executive.
Purpose of the Role
The Grants Manager will play a key role in managing and developing Wembley Stadium Foundation’s portfolio of grants and funding programmes.
They will lead the day-to-day grant-making process, from developing funding programmes and assessing applications through to due diligence, recommendations, monitoring, learning, and grant closure.
The Grants Manager will build strong relationships with our portfolio of funded organisations, and lead on learning and impact across our grants.
The postholder will also contribute to the wider strategic development of the Foundation as we look ahead to our next strategy.
The Candidate
We are looking for someone with strong experience of grant-making, philanthropy or funding programme management, together with a good understanding of the charity sector, who can combine sound judgement with a positive approach to partnership working.
You will be comfortable assessing organisations, funding proposals, budgets and risks, and able to turn complex information into clear recommendations for senior decision makers and Trustees.
You will have strong relationship management skills and be confident working with organisations of different sizes and levels of experience. You will also be organised, able to manage a varied portfolio and comfortable taking responsibility within a small team.
We are particularly interested in someone who understands that effective grant making is about more than administering funding. You should understand the challenges facing the charity sector, be curious about the organisations we support and what works, and use learning from our programmes to improve future funding.
Key Responsibilities
Grant-making Process
- Manage the Foundation’s grant-making programmes from development and launch through to award, including developing guidance and application processes.
- Build awareness of the Foundation’s funding opportunities and develop relationships across relevant sectors and communities.
- Assess funding applications and supporting information, including undertaking proportionate due diligence checks and risk assessment.
- Prepare clear and concise funding recommendations and papers for the Chief Executive, Trustees and funding panels.
- Ensure funding decisions, grant conditions and approvals are appropriately recorded and implemented.
- Act as the Foundation’s lead representative on the Brent Council Love Where You Live grants panel.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
