Research Grant Application Manager- EU, UK and or International
Location: London – hybrid (1 day per week in London, 4 days working from home)
Salary: Competitive
Contract: Permanent- 1 year contract
Reports to: Senior Research Grant Application Manager
About the Role
My client is looking for an experienced and highly organised Research Grant Application Manager to join its Research and Innovation Division. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong experience in research funding, grant applications, proposal development, costing and compliance who is looking to take on a role with genuine impact within a world-leading social science institution. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the development and submission of high-quality research funding proposals, working closely with academics, professional services teams, funders and external partners. You will provide expert guidance throughout the application process, ensuring proposals, budgets and supporting documentation meet both funder and institutional requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of research funding applications and awards, ensuring applications are delivered accurately, efficiently and within required deadlines.
- Lead eligibility checks, costing and pricing activity and submission preparation.
- Provide expert advice to academics and colleagues on funding opportunities, project budgets, costing, pricing and funder requirements.
- Work collaboratively with Research and Innovation, Finance, Contracts, Strategic Development and academic teams.
- Support the development and submission of complex research funding proposals.
- Coordinate the dissemination and triaging of funding opportunities and maintain the research funding calendar.
- Deliver training and information sessions for academic and professional staff on research funding, proposal development, award set-up and costing.
- Develop guidance, templates and resources to improve consistency and efficiency across the application process.
- Contribute to the implementation and ongoing development of research funding systems and processes.
- Produce reports and management information to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships with academic departments and provide guidance on research funding policies, best practice and funder priorities.
- Maintain knowledge of external funding trends and policy developments and share relevant insight across LSE.

About You
We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable research funding professional who can confidently manage multiple priorities and work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

You will ideally have:
- Strong experience in research grant or funding application management.
- A sound understanding of UK and/or international research funding processes.
- Experience managing complex funding proposals, budgets and associated compliance requirements.
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to manage competing deadlines while maintaining a high standard of service.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work with academic and professional stakeholders.
- The ability to provide clear, practical and expert advice.
- A collaborative approach and the initiative to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues would be advantageous.
