Position Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Graphic Designer position within the Communications Support department based in Cheadle, Manchester. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing high-quality visual content across digital and print platforms, supporting the organisation's campaigns, fundraising activities and communications. The role requires a designer with strong creative thinking, excellent technical skills, and the ability to translate campaign briefs into engaging visual designs that communicate Human Appeal's mission effectively.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design engaging visual content for social media platforms, digital campaigns, and marketing materials.
  • Develop creative concepts and visual assets for fundraising and humanitarian campaigns.
  • Produce high-quality graphics for websites, email campaigns, presentations, and digital advertising.
  • Design print materials, including brochures, reports, posters, leaflets, and other promotional assets.
  • Create infographics and data visualisations that communicate complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Adapt existing designs into multiple formats and sizes for different platforms and communication channels.
  • Maintain visual consistency across all creative outputs in line with Human Appeal's brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the creative, digital, and communications teams to understand project requirements and deliver effective design solutions.
  • Manage multiple design projects while ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Prepare final artwork and production-ready files for digital and print use.
  • Organise and maintain design files, templates, and creative assets.

Candidate Essential Criteria

  • Degree-educated in a related field, e.g. Art, Design, Marketing, or qualified by experience.
  • Proven professional experience as a Graphic Designer or in a similar creative role.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating creativity, visual storytelling, and experience across digital and print design.
  • Excellent understanding of typography, layout, colour theory, and visual composition.
  • Experience creating graphics for social media and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to interpret creative briefs and translate ideas into effective visual concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain brand consistency.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced creative environment.

Candidate Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working within a charity, humanitarian organisation, or fundraising environment.
  • Experience creating motion graphics or basic animations using Adobe After Effects.
  • Knowledge of video editing and multimedia content production.
  • Experience designing reports, publications, and presentation materials.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools and emerging creative technologies.
