About You
Are you a Graphic Designer looking for a role where you can bring ideas to life, work across a huge variety of creative briefs and see your work make a real impact?
As our Marketing team continues to grow, we are creating a brand-new Graphic Designer role at McCarthy & Stone. Working from our Bournemouth Head Office for at least three days a week, you will join an expanding in-house team at an exciting time, with the opportunity to bring fresh thinking, creativity and ideas to an established and recognised brand.
And there is plenty of variety. One day you could be creating assets for an integrated marketing campaign, the next developing digital content, brochures, signage or property marketing. You will work across multiple customer touchpoints, taking briefs from initial idea through to polished, production-ready creative.
You will bring at least two years' experience in an in-house or agency design environment, a strong portfolio across print and digital, and confidence using Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. You will know how to work creatively within brand guidelines without losing the ideas and originality that make great design stand out.
You will also have a great eye for detail and be comfortable balancing multiple briefs and deadlines, collaborating with Marketing colleagues, stakeholders and external partners to deliver creative that looks great and works hard.
Knowledge of commercial print and artwork preparation will be important. Experience with Digital Asset Management systems, data merge, short-form video or AI-assisted creative tools would be a bonus but is not essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
