About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Game Developer to join our dynamic team at Jagex. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining engaging features and content for our flagship game, RuneScape, as well as supporting other ongoing projects. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gaming, a strong understanding of game mechanics, and proficiency in programming languages relevant to game development such as C++, C#, or Java. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including artists, designers, and quality assurance, to deliver high-quality gaming experiences that meet our community’s expectations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a globally renowned gaming franchise and to be part of a creative, innovative, and collaborative environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field. Proven experience in game development, particularly within multiplayer online games, is essential. Strong programming skills in languages such as C++, C#, or Java are required, along with a solid understanding of game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine. Experience with scripting, UI development, and database management is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team. A passion for gaming and a deep understanding of player engagement and community dynamics are also important attributes for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement new features, content, and game mechanics for RuneScape, ensuring alignment with the overall game design and community expectations.
  • Collaborate with designers, artists, and other developers to create engaging and innovative gameplay experiences.
  • Maintain and optimize existing game systems to improve performance, stability, and user experience.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to incorporate best practices into game development.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of project milestones, providing technical expertise and innovative ideas throughout the development process.
  • Support live operations by troubleshooting issues, implementing updates, and engaging with the community to gather feedback for continuous improvement.
