About The Role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Game Developer to join our dynamic team at Jagex. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining features for RuneScape and other upcoming projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in game development, a passion for online gaming, and a desire to contribute to a vibrant community of players. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including designers, artists, and QA to ensure that our games meet the highest standards of quality and performance. Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field. Proven experience in game development, particularly in MMORPGs or online multiplayer games, is highly desirable. Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, or Java, along with experience using game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. Prior experience with live service games, understanding of game monetization strategies, and familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure are considered advantageous.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Developing new game features
- Optimizing existing gameplay mechanics
- Ensuring seamless performance of RuneScape and other projects
- Writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code
- Collaborating with designers to implement gameplay ideas
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
- Participating in code reviews to maintain high-quality standards
- Testing and debugging to ensure a smooth user experience
- Contributing to the ongoing development of game content
- Supporting live operations by addressing player feedback and technical challenges promptly
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies
