Salary: Up to £37,000 per annum, plus company benefits

Address: LS10 1AB, Leeds

Contract: Permanent, full time

Shifts: 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri 10am-6pm with a 30-min unpaid lunch

Work model: Hybrid following successful completion of probation

Overview

The Graphic Designer will be expected to work collaboratively alongside the client, members of the Document Production Team, the Senior Creative Lead, and Management Team to drive quality and creativity and to help inspire and innovate the creative service offered to the client. They will work closely alongside the Document Production Team Leaders to ensure all processes and procedures are in place to ensure the smooth running of the department, this includes attending client briefings and sharing ideas. They will be expected to have the ability to prioritise and organise to ensure that client deadlines and expectations are met and maintained whilst delivering solutions that are of a high standard.

Purpose of the Role

Williams Lea is seeking a Graphic Designer to work in a fast-paced on-demand design studio within the banking sector. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years' experience working in either design agency or corporate in-house design teams, delivering innovative and creative solutions, while ensuring attention to detail and high-quality design output.

The successful candidate will work closely with client teams within business areas and departments such as Financial Advisory, HR, and Global Communications, striving to provide creative design solutions that exceed the clients’ expectations. They must also have an intuitive in-depth understanding and appreciation of brand and the importance of brand consistency and adhesion across all communication materials.

We are looking for an experienced Graphic Designer who can communicate with clients in an effective and professional manner. They will be capable of working independently, as well as being able to collaborate with their Senior Creative Line Manager and the rest of the design team, to develop fresh ideas for PowerPoint presentations, events, social media, and marketing materials. Their focus will include high-quality design and artwork creation, with proficiency in using PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Cloud for deliverables including presentation template design, event collateral, internal communications, and digital assets such as branded HTML emails and web assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Confident in liaising with clients to discuss business objectives, requirements of the job, and able to advise on the creative brief
  • Capable of understanding and interpreting the clients’ business needs
  • Able to think creatively and provide fresh ideas and concepts that are both appropriate for the brand and audience
  • Capable of demonstrating illustrative skills with rough sketches
  • Experienced in working intuitively with multiple brands and understanding their purpose
  • Able to create designs in a timely manner, from creative concepts through to final artwork delivery, working to both digital and print specifications
  • Confident and articulate in presenting ideas and concepts to clients
  • Capable of managing own projects, pre-empting production issues, and coordinating artwork, for both digital and print delivery
  • Able to provide quality control of own work and others
  • Capable of negotiating deadlines in a calm, professional, and accommodating manner
  • Competent in completing excel job timesheets daily and to give an accurate reflection of time spent on all projects
  • Confident in liaising with external suppliers of services to ensure that work meets exact requirements as specified

Key Competencies

Essential Skills:

  • Over 5 years of professional design experience
  • Formal training in design to degree graduate level or equivalent
  • Ability to create and develop compelling concepts and offer innovative solutions
  • Good brand awareness, working intuitively with or without brand guidelines
  • Creative flair and confidence in presenting and articulating ideas to clients and colleagues
  • Ability to balance work on several projects simultaneously
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Proactive in self-development, utilising online training materials and resources
  • Strong on working well within a team and being supportive of the development of others
  • Exceptional visual troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to storyboard, comp visual ideas within the creative process
  • Conceptual creative and production skills with a good understanding of layout principles, aesthetic design concepts, and typography
  • Experience creating campaigns and extending the look and feel through various marketing materials
  • Able to complete tasks within tight schedules and under strict layout controls
  • Strong verbal communication skills; dependable, detail-oriented, and well organized
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Web design experience is a plus
  • Experience working in a corporate environment preferred
  • Motivated, organized, and flexible

Technical Skills:

  • Expert in PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Acrobat
  • Working knowledge of timeline-based software such as Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere
  • Strong skills in Excel and Word
  • Highly experienced in pre-press, including checking files before sending them to printers, working with complex cutter guides, templates, measurements, and colour profile and setup
  • Ability to learn new software and digital platforms where required
  • Competent with using various AI tools, such as Claude, plus the ability to craft and generate AI prompts where required
