GRAPHIC DESIGNER, HYPHEN

This vacancy is for a part-time (20 hours per week) six-month fixed-term contract.

Further information on this role is available in the supporting document below.

THE ROLE

Hyphen (hyphenonline.com) is the leading media platform on Muslim life in the UK and Europe. The graphic designer will lead the visual identity of Hyphen’s digital content — creating high-impact thumbnails, carousels and brand assets that expand our reach and deepen audience connection across platforms.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role focused on translating Hyphen’s journalism and storytelling into compelling visual formats for social and web. You’ll work closely with the multimedia team and the editors to produce multiple assets each week, maintaining a consistent publishing pipeline and experimenting with new visual formats that drive engagement.

You’ll ideally have a well-rounded understanding of the interests and aspirations of Muslim communities in the UK and Europe, including news, culture, lifestyle and opinion.

Your Main Responsibilities Will Include

  • Thumbnails: Design scroll-stopping YouTube and social video thumbnails that reflect Hyphen’s editorial tone and boost click-through rates
  • Carousels: Create multi-slide Instagram, LinkedIn, X and Facebook carousels that adapt longform journalism, opinion pieces, lifestyle and original content into engaging visual narratives
  • Branding: Develop and maintain brand-consistent templates, style guides and visual systems across all platforms — ensuring Hyphen’s identity is instantly recognisable
  • Social-first storytelling: Collaborate with the multimedia and editorial team to turn written stories into platform-optimised visuals
  • Campaign and event assets: Produce graphics for Hyphen’s events, partnerships, merchandise and campaigns.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
