Role Description

The Grease Hygiene Operative (GHO) is a full-time, on-site role based in London, responsible for maintaining clean and safe ductwork and ventilation systems. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Cleaning grease and contaminants from kitchen extraction and ductwork systems
  • Assisting with ductwork installation and minor repairs
  • Supporting fire damper inspections and testing as required

The GHO will follow detailed work schedules, use specialist cleaning equipment and chemicals, and complete job reports and checklists to document work carried out. The role also involves adhering to health and safety procedures, working at height or in confined spaces where necessary, and interacting professionally with clients and team members to ensure minimal disruption to operations.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform physical, hands-on work, including working at height, in confined spaces, and lifting equipment safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions, safety procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a crew on site.
  • Basic understanding of ventilation, ductwork, or building services; experience in cleaning or facilities maintenance is an advantage.
  • Commitment to health and safety best practices, including use of PPE and safe handling of cleaning materials.
  • Full, clean driving license and willingness to travel across London and occasionally to surrounding areas.
  • Right to work in the UK; relevant industry training or certifications (e.g., BESA, TR19) are beneficial but not mandatory.
