PRESTWICK GOLF CLUB

FULL-TIME GREENKEEPER

Join the course team at the Birthplace of The Open

Following the celebration of our 175th anniversary, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated Greenkeeper to join the course team at Prestwick Golf Club.

Founded in 1851 and host venue for the first Open Championship, Prestwick has a history and golfing heritage like no other. We are proud custodians of one of the world’s most historic links courses and are committed to protecting its unique character for future generations.

Our approach to course management is progressive and data-driven. We use modern technology, performance measurement and sustainable practices to support informed decision-making and continual improvement. Alongside this, we remain committed to the authentic “touch and feel” values of traditional links greenkeeping—the practical experience, observation and judgement required to produce firm, natural and challenging playing surfaces.

The role

Working as part of our experienced course team, the successful candidate will contribute to the daily preparation, maintenance and presentation of the golf course.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Preparing and maintaining greens, tees, fairways, roughs and practice areas
  • Mowing and presenting playing surfaces to consistently high standards
  • Course set-up, including hole changing, tee presentation and daily inspections
  • Bunker preparation, turfing, divoting and general course maintenance
  • Safely operating and maintaining a range of modern golf-course machinery
  • Applying plant-protection products and turf treatments where appropriately qualified
  • Supporting irrigation, drainage and water-management operations
  • Contributing to tournament and special-event preparation
  • Recording and using agronomic, environmental and performance data
  • Supporting ecological, sustainability and habitat-management projects
  • Maintaining Prestwick’s distinctive links character and playing qualities

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
