About Greenwich Homeless Project
Greenwich Homeless Project (GHP) is a dynamic charity with a high profile locally. The charity has significantly increased services provided to guests and our goal is to continue to evolve. The contribution of trustees is key to shaping and delivering our next phase of development.
What Difference Will You Make?
GHP is a small charity which has grown quickly from a volunteer-only, seasonal night shelter, to a much more comprehensive organisation offering year round day and night shelter support and accommodation.
Everything the trustees do is built around delivering the best outcomes for our guests and ensuring the facilities offer a welcoming inclusive environment and experience.
We will continue to evolve and therefore the contribution of trustees will be key to shaping our next phase of development.

We are particularly interested in people with:
- Financial accounting expertise;
- Experience (including lived experience) in the homelessness sector;
- Property management expertise;
- Experience in HR and
- Knowledge of charities regulation & governance.
However, a lack of experience in these areas is not a bar to application. What we need above all are people with energy, vision and commitment to what we do and deliver as an organisation.
We would encourage applications from individuals based in South East London (although this is not a specific requirement) who would be able to contribute to the community engagement of our organisation.
What Will You Be Doing?
The trustees' role is to provide guidance, governance and strategic direction. We have a small team of paid staff (including a full-time CEO) who co-ordinate a large cohort (~150) of volunteers.
The commitment for a trustee is 6 meetings (early evening) per year plus an annual away day. Periodically trustees will also be needed for other duties – e.g. interviewing potential employees.

Our funding comes from a variety of sources local council, National Lottery, other major funders and many local people and businesses.
We are looking to boost our Trustee capacity, with a need for:
- individuals with financial accounting expertise able in due course to take on the role of treasurer;
- experience of fund-raising
- experience within HR
- knowledge of charities regulation and governance
Whilst we welcome people of all faiths and none, the charity has its roots in local Christian churches and we welcome interest from people active in their churches. We also encourage applications from individuals based in South East London (although this is not a specific requirement) who would be able to contribute to the community engagement of our organisation and services.
