Help shape the future of the electricity network by supporting major customer demand and renewable generation projects seeking access to the transmission system.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing area of the business as we respond to increasing demand for renewable generation, energy storage and large-scale customer connections. Working across both distribution and transmission networks, you will act as the technical interface between customers, Northern Powergrid, NESO and transmission owners. Using your engineering expertise, you'll help develop connection solutions, secure transmission access and ensure network capacity is utilised efficiently to support the energy transition.

The Role

Working closely with customers, network planning engineers, design teams and external stakeholders, you'll develop and progress technically robust connection solutions that meet customer requirements and optimise network capacity.

You will be responsible for:

  • Acting as the technical interface between customers, Northern Powergrid, NESO and transmission operators.
  • Assessing and challenging technical connection proposals to ensure they are robust, efficient and aligned with customer requirements.
  • Recommending practical and innovative engineering solutions, including options that may not have previously been considered.
  • Reviewing technical information to support large customer demand, generation and energy storage connections.
  • Explaining technical solutions to customers, ensuring options, constraints and impacts are clearly understood.
  • Representing customer requirements through quality technical engagement and stakeholder management.
  • Working with network planning and design teams to optimise connection proposals.
  • Reviewing transmission access and connection offers to ensure they meet customer and network requirements.
  • Providing technical guidance on transmission access, network capability and connection arrangements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
