Gross Margin Manager
Birmingham | Hybrid Working (2 days/week in office)
£65,000 - £75,000
Permanent, full-time, 37.5 hours per week
We are working with an established and forward-thinking organisation within the UK energy sector to recruit a Gross Margin Manager to join their Finance team.
This is a key role responsible for the accurate measurement, reporting, and analysis of gross margin across electricity supply activities. You will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of revenue and costs, identifying opportunities for improvement, and providing meaningful commercial insight to the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month-end gross margin reporting, ensuring accurate matching of industry costs and revenues.
- Calculate and review unbilled revenue, including underlying assumptions.
- Validate customer billed volumes against settled volumes and investigate discrepancies.
- Analyse achieved margins against pricing assumptions and identify potential revenue leakage.
- Review and improve existing gross margin reporting processes.
- Work closely with third-party system providers to implement reporting and process improvements.
- Partner with Commercial, Operations, Sales, and IT teams to ensure processes and systems impacting gross margin are effective.
- Support the development of reporting and analysis for emerging energy transition products, including batteries, solar, and dispatchable load.

About You
- You will be a highly analytical and commercially minded finance professional with:
- Strong gross margin experience in a similar role.
- Experience within the UK energy supply industry.
- Full accountancy qualification (CIMA / ACA / ACCA).
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with strong Excel capability.
- Proven experience improving processes, controls, and reporting.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate across different teams.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
