Amazon Worldwide (WW) Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Ground Gas Specialist

As an Amazon Worldwide (WW) Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Ground Gas Specialist you will help protect one of the safest real estate programs in the world. You will partner with stakeholders and teams across Amazon to develop and run our ground gas mitigation program in continental Europe, spanning standards and policy development, implementation, and execution; your work directly reduces environmental and human-health risk across our facilities.

To be successful you will bring strong contaminated-land and ground gas or vapour-intrusion expertise, including risk assessment, mitigation system design, construction, operations, maintenance, and monitoring (OMM); you will understand how ground gas and vapour intrusion are regulated within European contaminated-land frameworks and be able to extend that understanding across the countries in scope. We welcome experienced geo-environmental generalists with demonstrable ground gas exposure, and Amazon will sponsor specialist accreditation and training to deepen your expertise.

This role is based in continental Europe and covers Amazon's European portfolio, coordinating country-specific regulatory work through qualified local partners and consultants. Travel is variable and project-driven, concentrated during site investigation, construction, and startup phases; it is not a fixed continuous commitment.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provide a single point of contact to internal teams to develop, understand, and execute Amazon's ground gas program in continental Europe, coordinating country-specific coverage through qualified local consultants and partners.
  • Complete due diligence reviews of properties to assess ground gas risk.
  • Complete reviews of mitigation system designs, construction plans, and construction verification, startup testing, and OMM data.
  • Inspect and/or oversee field personnel inspecting systems during construction, startup, and operation to evaluate conditions and confirm design and operating assumptions.
  • Oversee and direct field personnel providing OMM including developing scopes of work, coordinating and scheduling OMM events, evaluating field reports, and acting-on and implementing follow-up actions.
  • Support legal, property owner, construction management, preconstruction management, consulting, transaction management, business leadership, and facility operations teams and partners on ground gas risks and intrusion mitigation systems, and operations, maintenance, and monitoring (OMM).
  • Support and train a wide range of facility operations teams and partners on mitigation systems, monitoring equipment, and OMM.
  • Review work performed by contractors, developers, and consultants, including local specialists retained for country-specific regulatory work.
  • Prioritize and lead multiple projects and assignments concurrently.
  • Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with property owners and their representatives, consultants, and legal advisors to maintain professional and effective relationships.
  • Travel across continental Europe as needed to support site work, concentrated around active project phases.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
