Ground Investigation Engineers

As part of the rapidly growing RSK Group, we're expanding our teams across the UK and are looking for ambitious Ground Engineers with 3+ years’ experience to join us on exciting and varied projects nationwide.

These are full-time, permanent positions offering excellent career development, industry-recognised training and the opportunity to work alongside some of the sector's most knowledgeable professionals.

What You'll Be Doing

No two days are the same. You'll play a key role in delivering a diverse range of ground investigation projects, taking ownership of site activities and helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest technical standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising and delivering intrusive ground investigations using a variety of techniques, including:
    • Sonic drilling
    • Rotary drilling
    • Cable percussion
    • Window sampling boreholes
    • Geophysical investigations
    • Trial pits and other investigation methods
  • Logging soil and rock samples in accordance with BS5930:2020
  • Managing ground investigation projects from planning through to completion
  • Preparing quotations and pricing works
  • Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and clients
  • Producing health and safety documentation and site paperwork
  • Ensuring the highest standards of site safety and compliance
  • Processing, managing and reporting factual site data
  • Completing Desk-Based Studies
  • Supporting senior colleagues with project delivery and technical tasks
  • Managing departmental equipment, including hire, allocation, servicing and repairs
  • Maintaining ground investigation engineering equipment
  • Attending and successfully completing internal and externally accredited training courses, including:
    • PTS
    • NRSWA
    • CCNSG
    • Towing licence training
    • CAT & Genny
    • First Aid
    • Manual Handling
  • Following all SHEQ policies and procedures

What We're Looking For

We're seeking motivated engineers who want to make a real impact and become a valued member of both their local and national teams.

Essential requirements:

  • Previous UK ground investigation site experience
  • BSc degree in:
    • Geology
    • Earth Science
    • Geography
    • Civil Engineering
    • Environmental Geoscience
    • Or a related discipline
  • Ability to log samples to BS5930+A2 standards
  • Good understanding of the principal soil and rock strata encountered across the UK
  • Ability to interpret geological maps and published geological datasets
  • Basic knowledge of groundwater, soil gas and environmental monitoring techniques
  • Strong technical report writing skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Unrestricted right to work in the United Kingdom
