Ground Segment Systems Engineer
Location: Alton, Hampshire (Hybrid)

Role Description
Work within the Ground Segment domain, supporting the architecture, design, development and evolution of ground systems for current and future space missions.
- Apply systems engineering principles across the full ground segment lifecycle, from concept and requirements definition through to integration, verification and acceptance.
- Develop robust, scalable and maintainable ground segment solutions that meet mission, customer and operational needs.
- Contribute to the definition of ground segment architectures, interfaces and technical solutions across a range of mission applications.
- Apply knowledge of ground segment standards, engineering best practice and industry approaches to system development.
- Work collaboratively with software, infrastructure, mission and systems engineers to deliver integrated ground segment capabilities.
- Support the development of next-generation ground segment products, services and mission capabilities.
- Develop expertise across a broad range of ground segment functions including mission control, TT&C, mission planning, payload operations, data processing and automation.

Many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
