At Uttoxeter Racecourse, we're always looking for hard working and passionate individuals to join our team. We offer a fast paced and exciting environment for everyone. Our friendly work environment reflects our belief that a happy workplace is more productive. We employ people with a positive attitude who genuinely want to provide a great customer experience and will always look for ways to improve the services we offer.

We're looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Casual Gardener/Grounds Person to join our team here at Uttoxeter Racecourse!

About The Role Of Casual Gardener/Grounds Person...

This is a physically active role where no two days are the same. Working as part of our dedicated grounds team, you'll help maintain the racecourse grounds and outdoor spaces to a high standard throughout the year, ensuring everything looks its best for race days and events. The role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and includes a variety of gardening and grounds maintenance tasks. You'll work closely with the wider team, attend regular grounds meetings, and play an important part in the smooth running and presentation of the racecourse.

As racing and events often take place outside normal working hours, you'll be expected to work some evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays. If you enjoy practical outdoor work, take pride in creating well-maintained outdoor spaces and are happy working as part of a team as well as using your own initiative, we'd love to hear from you.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What is casual work?

Casual work is a great solution as it enables you to work flexibly around other commitments in your life. Once you have registered your interest, we will contact you in advance to offer you department based shifts at racedays or hospitality functions. There are usually a range of shifts available and opportunities for work are based on busy seasons and the annual racing calendar. Positions will be allocated on the day as part of the briefing.
