Company Description
Seasonal Outdoor Services (SOS) provides a wide range of outdoor services to maintain client properties throughout the year. The company focuses on ensuring outdoor spaces create a strong first impression for customers. SOS manages everything from routine grounds maintenance to winter gritting, height access work, and road sweeping. The team also handles specialized services such as chewing gum removal and invasive weed control, offering comprehensive support for commercial and residential outdoor environments.
Role Description
The Grounds Maintenance Operative is a full-time, on-site role based in Derry.

- Carrying out routine grounds maintenance such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, litter picking, and general upkeep of outdoor areas.
- Operating and caring for grounds maintenance equipment.
- Assisting with seasonal tasks including winter gritting.
- Supporting tasks such as weed control and basic cleaning of hard surfaces.
- Working as part of a team to ensure all sites are maintained to a high standard.
- Following health and safety procedures.
- Responding to reactive maintenance needs as required.

Qualifications
- Strong skills in Maintenance & Repair and general Maintenance of grounds and outdoor areas.
- Ability to perform Equipment Maintenance, including safe operation, cleaning, and basic servicing of tools and machinery.
- Experience with Preventive Maintenance and Troubleshooting to identify issues early and resolve minor faults.
- Awareness of health and safety practices, including safe manual handling and safe use of chemicals and equipment.
- Reliable work ethic, ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and readiness to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a similar role is preferred but not essential.
- Valid driver’s license is essential (hgv or trailer entitlements are beneficial).
