About The Role

As a Grounds Maintenance Operative in Lichfield, you will join a permanent, full-time crew for a leading landscaping contractor. Your duties involve mowing, strimming, hedge trimming, and maintaining fencing across commercial and residential sites. This role suits someone who takes pride in outdoor work and can operate equipment safely. In return, you will receive a salary of up to £28,000, a monthly performance bonus, a pension, and healthcare benefits. Prior experience in grounds upkeep is essential. You should be reliable, physically fit, and able to work independently or within a small team. Your base location will be Lichfield, with travel to nearby projects.

The Role

Duties

You’ll be working across a variety of sites for national housebuilders, local authorities, housing associations, and management companies, carrying out a range of grounds maintenance duties, including:

  • Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on mowers
  • Stripping and brush cutter work
  • Hedge and tree pruning
  • Pond and lake maintenance
  • Weed control and spraying
  • Re-barking and general landscape maintenance

There are also opportunities to develop your skills by working alongside our Landscaping, Customer Care, Play Equipment Installation, and Ecological teams.

If you have fencing experience, there may also be opportunities to work within our dedicated Fencing division.

What We’re Looking For

  • A minimum of 1 year’s experience in grounds maintenance
  • A positive attitude and excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to read and interpret site plans and landscape drawings
  • A full, clean UK driving licence is essential
  • A CSCS Card is desirable, although training can be provided if required
  • Reliable, hardworking, and able to work effectively as part of a team

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday
  • 7:00am – 4:00pm
  • Overtime available
