Birmingham City Football Club is on the rise.

With an incredible history dating back to 1875, Birmingham City Football Club is part of an exciting period of accelerated growth and modernisation, and is playing it’s part in once-in-a-generation opportunity to support the transformation of England’s second city as part of the Sports Quarter project. With significant investment across our football, commercial, and community operations, we are rebuilding the Club for long-term success — on and off the pitch. Birmingham City Football Club is looking for a passionate and experienced Groundskeeper to join our Groundskeeping team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build on their career in sports turf management and horticulture within a professional football environment.

The Department

Responsible for the maintenance and preparation of the pitches and surrounding areas, the department works closely with football operations, coaching staff and external contractors to ensure surfaces are match-ready for fixtures across the Club. Operating in a fast-paced elite sporting environment, the team combines technical expertise, precision planning and a strong work ethic to deliver outstanding pitch quality throughout the season.

About the Role

Working alongside experienced grounds staff, you will receive hands-on training and development, learning the skills required to maintain high-quality playing and training surfaces used by our First Team, Academy, and Community programmes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
