Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Groundworker Handyman (Topman) to join our groundwork teams on sites across Sittingbourne. You will play a crucial role on site, working from ground level to support machine operators and bottom men, assisting with general groundworks, site upkeep, basic drainage, and finishing works, while ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as Topman: guiding machine operators, monitoring open excavations, and passing materials safely to pipelayers/groundworkers in trenches
  • Carrying out general groundworks, including shallow drainage, kerbing, edging, slabbing, and concrete prep work
  • Assisting with hand digging, trench support/shoring set up, and clearing spoil around excavation areas
  • Performing general site handyman and maintenance duties to keep the site safe, operational, and tidy
  • Working closely with excavator/dumper operators, pipelayers, and site management
  • Assisting with setting out basic levels and operating laser equipment where required
  • Safe handling, unloading, and distribution of site materials
  • Maintaining high health & safety standards at all times, particularly around heavy machinery and deep excavations

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
