Portsmouth (Covering areas within our South region patch)

Salary up to £36,000 plus a company van and fuel card

Hyde is looking for an experienced Groundworker to join our busy Property Maintenance Voids team.

As a Groundworker at Hyde, you’ll be working in our homes carrying out day-to-day repairs and maintenance. You’ll be trusted to get jobs done right first time and to treat our customers with respect in their homes.

If you’re a hands-on tradesperson who can turn their hand to a range of jobs and takes pride in doing things properly, we’d like to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carrying out general maintenance work such as path/paving repairs, minor brickwork repairs, painting and decorating, garden clearances, shed removals and minor roofing repairs.
  • Erecting and repairing fencing and gates, repairing concrete floors, and addressing issues in garden areas.
  • Repointing old or damaged mortar joints, replacing broken bricks/blocks, and repairing walls, chimneys, and structural features.
  • Excavating, repairing, and re-installing drainage systems, flagging (paving), and edging to paths and driveway.
  • Following work orders and reporting back on progress and materials used.
  • Always working safely and following Hyde’s health and safety procedures.
  • Providing a professional, friendly service to customers in their homes.

What We’re Looking For

  • Solid experience across repairs, maintenance or void property refurbishment.
  • Proven experience in multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, plastering, and general maintenance.
  • Experience working within social housing, local authority or domestic maintenance environments.
  • A practical problem-solver who can spot issues and fix them properly.
  • Knowledge of trade-specific techniques, materials, and safety protocols.
  • Good communication skills and a customer-friendly attitude.
  • A full, valid UK driving licence.

Skills And Experience

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • PASMA or tower scaffold.
  • Asbestos awareness.
