We are Hestia. We make a difference.

At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Group Activities Coordinator to play a pivotal role in our Complex Needs Service in Kensington & Chelsea.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

The Group Activities Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating community-based activities that support adults with mental health needs to increase independence, wellbeing and social inclusion.

This is a hands-on management role with responsibility for supervising and developing Group Facilitators, volunteers and students. The post holder will provide leadership, guidance and oversight to ensure activities are safe, effective and recovery-focused, while maintaining high standards of service delivery.

The successful candidate will be confident managing complex situations, including safeguarding concerns, mental health crises, disengagement from services and other risk-related issues. They will support staff with decision making, ensure risks are appropriately managed and escalated, and promote a culture of accountability, learning and continuous improvement.

The role also involves building partnerships with mental health professionals and community organisations, overseeing service quality and performance, managing recruitment and supervision processes, monitoring budgets and resources, and ensuring compliance with organisational policies, safeguarding requirements and best practice standards.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience supporting adults with mental health and complex needs, alongside proven experience managing and developing staff within a health, social care or support setting. They will be confident leading teams, managing performance, handling difficult conversations and providing clear direction in challenging situations.

Candidates should have a strong understanding of mental health, recovery-focused practice, safeguarding and risk management, with the ability to make sound decisions when responding to crises, safeguarding concerns and complex casework. Experience engaging individuals who may be reluctant to access support and promoting meaningful service user involvement is essential.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, resilience and professional judgement, with the ability to balance the needs of service users, staff and service performance. They will also have experience working collaboratively with external agencies, managing resources effectively and using data and IT systems to monitor quality, performance and outcomes.

A recognised management qualification or experience leading community-based mental health services would be advantageous.
