Voluntary Action Rotherham (VAR) is the lead body for supporting, developing, and promoting the voluntary and community sector (VCS) in the Rotherham Borough. Our role is to facilitate effective action to bring about positive change in the lives of individuals and communities in the local area.
About the Role
The primary purpose of this role will be to work with local people, voluntary and community groups, and empower them to find solutions to local issues through effective community action in the delivery of the single infrastructure grant contract. As well as providing help and assistance to groups and individuals who want to set up or maintain community groups, this role will offer support on appropriate organizational structures and development needs as well as working in local neighborhoods to help groups to implement action plans to support their aims and objectives.

Responsibilities
- Work with local people, voluntary, and community groups.
- Empower individuals and groups to find solutions to local issues.
- Support the delivery of the single infrastructure grant contract.
- Provide assistance to groups and individuals for setting up or maintaining community groups.
- Offer support on appropriate organizational structures and development needs.
- Work in local neighborhoods to help groups implement action plans.
Requirements
- Experience in community development, either in a paid or unpaid capacity.
- Involvement with statutory/voluntary organizations in addressing community issues.
- Understanding of social issues and their local impact.
- Knowledge of funding regimes and their requirements.
- Understanding and commitment to developing and maintaining partnership working.
- Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work using own initiative.

Working Conditions
- Some evening and weekend work may be necessary.
- Salary is £31,063 based on 37 hours per week.
- Flexible working hours accepted (3-5 days, 22.5-37 hours per week).
- Regular travel throughout the Borough is required, so access to own transport is essential.
Benefits

- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays (pro rata for part-time).
