Main Purpose of The Role
We are seeking a Group ESG Reporting and Compliance Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of its ESG reporting and related compliance activities. Reporting to the Senior Manager Financial Controls & Compliance, the successful candidate will maintain and develop the Group’s reporting framework, methodologies, processes and controls; coordinate delivery across the divisions; and ensure that ESG disclosures are supported by robust data and evidence capable of meeting external assurance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Group’s principal day-to-day ESG subject-matter expert, providing technical advice and practical support to the Group Senior Manager Financial Controls & Compliance, Group functions and divisions
- Work with key internal stakeholders, in the development of appropriate communication, reporting and verification mechanisms and metrics for ESG reporting for investors, brand partners and other stakeholders
- Work directly with divisional CFOs, finance teams and ESG data owners to establish clear responsibilities, secure timely delivery, challenge submissions and resolve issues, escalating significant or unresolved matters where required
- Maintain an informed understanding of current and emerging external ESG regulatory reporting requirements, assess their relevance and implications for the Group, and translate them into appropriate reporting requirements and implementation actions
- Manage the annual ESG reporting cycle, including reporting instructions, timetables, divisional submissions, consolidation, review and sign-off
- Maintain and develop the Group’s ESG reporting methodologies, reporting boundaries, processes and controls, ensuring reported information is supported by appropriate evidence
- Develop and maintain the Group’s readiness for external assurance, including implementing improvements arising from external review and coordinating evidence testing and remediation activity
- Lead the preparation of the Group’s Annual Group Sustainability Report, ESG website content, ESG profile and the required disclosures for the Group’s Annual Report and Financial Statements
- Support the preparation of materials for submission to the Board and sub-committees (as applicable)
- Lead and co-ordinate the Group’s submissions to and interactions with appropriate external ESG rating agencies
- Compare the Group’s ESG governance model to other comparable companies of scale and identify relevant learnings for Constellation
- Work closely with HR teams to ensure that key employee matters, such as diversity and inclusion, gender pay, safety and well-being, and reward and recognition, are appropriately reflected in the Group's ESG approach and reporting
- Liaise with procurement, key suppliers and third party brand partners to assess alignment with the Group’s ESG policies, agree appropriate actions to address identified gaps and provide ESG input into decisions concerning ongoing trading relationships
- Champion sustainability throughout the business, securing and leveraging senior-level commitment and support for integrating sustainability into core processes, business planning, capital investment, operations and decision-making
- Work with Group and divisional marketing teams to identify and support appropriate ESG-related communications and opportunities
- Network with appropriate stakeholder / trade bodies and other partners in the market to support the Group’s understanding of ESG initiatives and market developments
- Monitor relevant grant and collaborative funding opportunities and support applications relating to agreed ESG initiatives
- Work with colleagues to deliver projects for ESG and related services, as required

Knowledge and Experience Required
- Broad and current technical knowledge of sustainability, corporate responsibility and wider governance matters relevant to a UK-headquartered group operating across the UK and Continental Europe.
- Strong technical knowledge of the current and emerging ESG reporting requirements, standards and regulatory developments, with the ability to assess their relevance and implications for the Group.
- Demonstrable experience of corporate ESG reporting, including the development and application of reporting methodologies, organisational and operational boundaries, data definitions, calculation methodologies and disclosures.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience across a number of the following in a corporate or consultancy capacity:
- Climate-related risks and opportunities
- GHG accounting, reporting and mitigation strategies
- Science Based Targets
- Net-Zero strategies and transition plans
- Sustainability and ESG reporting frameworks
- ESG and sustainability policy development
- Sustainable procurement
- Experience interpreting complex technical and regulatory requirements and translating them into practical Group policies, methodologies, reporting instructions and implementation plans
- Ability to assess and challenge ESG methodologies, technical judgements, calculations and disclosures.
- Experience coordinating ESG reporting across a complex, multi-entity organisation where underlying activity, technical expertise and data ownership sit within divisions or functions
- Ability to operate independently as the Group’s day-to-day ESG subject-matter expert, while recognising matters requiring escalation or direction from the Senior Manager Financial Controls & Compliance
- An understanding of the data quality, documentation and control requirements necessary to support credible ESG reporting and external assurance
- Strong influencing skills, both internally and externally with experience of building effective relationships with key stakeholders, including divisional FDs and CFOs
- Pragmatic with strong commercial awareness, particularly regarding link between ESG performance, corporate profile and investability

- A relevant financial, economics, engineering, science or sustainability qualification/background with practical experience gained in a corporate environment or a leading professional services firm
- Flexible approach including a willingness and ability to work across a wide range of ESG-related topics
- Strong numerical, written and verbal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical matters into clear and appropriate language for senior management, Board members, investors and colleagues
- Effective and proactive collaborator across teams, able to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders, build consensus and coordinate activity across functions, divisions and countries
