Group Finance Business Partner
Location: UK Remote
Contract: 4 to 6 months
Morgan Advanced Materials plc is looking for an experienced Group Finance Business Partner to support several important Group projects and central functions. This isn’t a role where you’ll simply produce reports and explain last month’s numbers. You’ll establish clearer financial governance, improve visibility of costs and benefits, and give senior stakeholders the information and challenge they need to make better decisions.
The Role
You’ll initially partner with the Procurement transformation and Shared Service Centre programmes, alongside central functions including Finance, HR, Legal and ESG/EHS. The work will involve creating practical finance processes where they’re missing, improving the ones already in place, and making sure they continue to work after the engagement ends. In other words, you’ll leave behind something useful, not just another spreadsheet with an impressive number of tabs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the finance partnering activity for selected Group transformation projects and central functions.
- Establish clear financial governance, reporting routines and review cadences.
- Track project costs and benefits, including ownership, phasing, run-rate impact, one-off expenditure and allocation principles.
- Challenge project assumptions and provide clear insight into costs, benefits, dependencies, risks and opportunities.
- Design and implement a practical business partnering model for Group central functions.
- Improve the visibility and ownership of central cost centres across Finance, HR, Legal, ESG/EHS and other Group activities.
- Embed consistent approaches to planning, forecasting, accruals, recharges, allocations and variance analysis.
- Support senior stakeholders in understanding cost drivers and the financial impact of operational decisions.
- Develop straightforward reporting processes, templates and commentary standards that people will actually use.
- Build sustainable processes and transfer knowledge so the improvements remain in place when the engagement ends.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
