Group Financial Controller
Yorkshire | £100,000 – £125,000 + Benefits | Private Equity Backed
HW Finance are delighted to be partnering with a Private Equity backed business to appoint a Group Financial Controller.
This is a key senior finance appointment at an important stage in the organisation’s development. The business is undergoing a period of significant change and turnaround, creating an opportunity for an experienced finance leader to make a genuine impact.
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Group Financial Controller will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, leading the team and ensuring the business has the robust financial controls, processes and reporting required to support its transformation.
This is very much a hands-on role. Alongside leading the function, you will be expected to get into the detail, identify issues quickly and implement practical improvements.

Key Responsibilities
- Leading the Group finance function and developing the existing finance team
- Ownership of the month-end process, management reporting and Group consolidation
- Ensuring accurate, timely and insightful financial information is provided to the CFO, Board and investors
- Improving the quality, consistency and efficiency of finance processes
- Leading statutory reporting and managing the external audit process
- Oversight of cash flow, working capital, tax and treasury
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and wider business planning
- Driving improvements in systems, reporting and financial data
- Supporting the CFO with the wider turnaround and transformation programme

The Successful Candidate
We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with significant experience operating in a senior Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller or similar leadership role.
You will need to be comfortable joining a business where there is considerable change underway.
This isn't a steady-state Financial Controller position; the successful candidate will need to enjoy getting into the detail, solving problems and creating structure in an evolving environment.
Experience within a Private Equity backed, leveraged or similarly fast-paced organisation would be highly advantageous, as would previous exposure to turnaround, transformation or significant finance change.
