We are now seeking a technically strong Group Financial Accountant to play a key role in strengthening group reporting, statutory compliance, and financial governance across the organisation.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent) qualified accountant looking to step into a commercially focused group role with real influence and visibility. You will work closely with senior leaders, finance teams, and external auditors, helping to shape best practice across the group.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
- Accurate and timely group financial reporting
- Smooth year‑end audit and statutory reporting cycles
- Robust financial processes and controls across the group
- Improved efficiency and consistency in reporting and consolidation
- Strong collaboration with finance and leadership teams
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly and annual consolidated group accounts in line with UK accounting standards
- Manage the group consolidation process, including intercompany eliminations and reconciliations
- Deliver high‑quality financial reporting to senior leadership and the Board
- Apply strong technical accounting expertise to complex group reporting matters
- Lead the preparation of group and subsidiary statutory accounts
- Coordinate year‑end audit processes and act as a key point of contact for external auditors
- Ensure all statutory filings are accurate and submitted on time
- Monitor and apply changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Develop and manage a clear, transparent group recharge framework
- Oversee intercompany accounting and balance reconciliations
- Proactively resolve reconciliation issues across group entities
- Design and implement group‑wide accounting policies and procedures
- Strengthen internal controls and financial governance
- Drive improvements in systems, reporting tools, and month‑end processes
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency gains
- Provide technical accounting guidance to finance teams across the group
- Act as a trusted contact for auditors, tax advisers, and regulators
- Support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the finance function

What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Post‑qualification experience in financial reporting or technical accounting
- Strong experience of group consolidation within a multi‑entity environment
- Proven track record preparing statutory accounts and managing external audits
- Experience implementing accounting policies, processes, and controls
- Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and group reporting principles
- Experience managing intercompany accounting and group recharges

Desirable
- Background in audit or accounting practice (Top 10 or mid‑tier firms)
- Experience within education, training, or not‑for‑profit sectors
- Understanding of apprenticeship funding and regulatory frameworks
Skills & Attributes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Advanced Excel and financial systems capability
- Strong attention to detail with high analytical ability
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
- Highly organised with strong multitasking skills
- Confident explaining technical accounting concepts to non‑finance stakeholders
- A proactive, solutions‑focused approach to problem solving
